What is an Internal Linking Score?
Internal Linking Score (ILS) is an overall rating of the pages internal linking. It is represented by 1 of 3 icons
The current page has a good internal linking score
The current pages internal linking could be improved
There are lots of areas to improve the internal linking on the current page
The internal linking score is made up of 3 key areas;
Internal links
The icon above simply means that 2 internal posts/pages are linking to the current url.
The icon will show red if the number of internal links referencing the current url is below 3, orange if it is below 4 and green if there are 5 or more internal articles linking to the current url.
Duplicate anchors
The icon above indicates that 4 internal links directing to the current url contain identical anchor texts.
Duplicate anchor texts should be kept to a minimum for best practice SEO.
Stuffed links
The icon above indicates that a single article is linking to the current url on 3 occassions.
For SEO best practices a page should only link to an article once else this can be seen as link stuffing.
